For Survivors
The SHIELD Act
Support & Help for Immediate Equity in Legal Defense
Reforms the Transitional Compensation (TransComp) system so that victims of abuse receive support as soon as charges are filed, not only after an abuser’s discharge. Provides remedies for false reports while prioritizing protection for families in crisis.
The Safe Haven Act
On-Post Housing Protections for Victims of Domestic Violence
Requires every installation to maintain secure, dedicated safe housing for victims of IPV/DV and their dependents. Ensures relocation within 24 hours, independent of the abuser’s consent, with childcare, transportation, and benefits protections.
The HONOR in Death Act
Honoring Operators - Necessary Recognition in Death
Reclassifies combat-related PTSD/TBI deaths as “Died of Wounds,” ensuring families receive full Gold Star benefits and long-overdue recognition that these are service-connected sacrifices.
The FAIR Trials for Victims Act
Guarantees that evidence of past abuse, coercive control, and behavioral history is admissible in both military and civilian courts. Extends protections to ensure victims’ voices are not silenced and that justice reflects the full context of abuse.
